„Obiekt kwartału” to cykl postów Muzeum Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego opowiadających o kolekcji muzealnej. W każdym z nich chcemy przedstawić Państwu te eksponaty, które na co dzień nie są pokazywane szerokiej publiczności. W tym miesiącu prezentujemy berło kardynała Bernarda Maciejowskiego (zm. 1608 r.). Historię obiektu przybliża Beata Frontczak z Działu Zbiorów Muzealnych.

Quarterly exhibit

The Gothic edifice of Collegium Maius, the oldest building of the Jagiellonian University, used to house the Faculty of Law and Faculty of Liberal Arts. The rooms inside Collegium Maius served various roles. Two small rooms in the first floor were used as the treasury where the most valuable documents, books, and valuables were kept safe.

Exhibit of the Month is a series initiated by the Jagiellonian University Museum with the beginning of the new academic year. Each month we will explain the Museum collection to you, choosing a single exhibit or a group of exhibits which usually are not shown to the open public. This month's feature are two cigars lit by Adam Mickiewicz and Antoni Edward Odyniec inside the Vesuvius crater.

Inauguration of the Museum's Jubilee Year in the Collegium Maius Library

On 1 February at 12:00, visit us to attend the inaugurational event of the jubilee year which celebrates the 60th anniversary of the opening of the Jagiellonian University Museum.
On this occasion, a scientific session will start at 12:00 in the Library: "The interpretation and functioning of the academic legacy in the city and region". We invite everyone to also visit the opening event of the new exhibition The Cracow Academic Trail which is to take place immediately after the session. Open the article to read the event schedule.
