We are pleased to present the newly released 2024 issue of the Museum Calendar! This year, we have picked animals as the central theme. The calendar showcases 12 exhibits from the Museum's collection together with short texts explaining both their history and related symbolism. We hope that our new release will provide a better understanding of the animal world.
Animals have been companions of humanity since the dawn of time. They were — and still are — giving an inspiration to artistic creativity, beginning with cave paintings and ending with modern meme images appearing on the internet. For that reason, we decided to take a closer look at the Jagiellonian University Museum's collection in search for clues leading to the world of fauna. The museum inventory includes a whole group of creatures which have found their home within our walls. By examining them, we are able to learn about diverse depictions of animals in art.
The calendar is available for purchase in the University Bookstore located on 6 Św. Anny Street.
